CFOV Supports Local Nonprofits with 2026 Grant Awards

On June 4, 2026, the Community Foundation of Ogden Valley proudly awarded grants to local nonprofit organizations for the second consecutive year. The Martin Family generously donated the Hearthside Event Space in Eden for the celebration. In all, 8 grants totaling over $60,000 were awarded. The 2026 Grant Awards were made possible by the donation of nearly $200,000 from the proceeds of the Timberline Chairlift Auction by Powder in 2024. Subsequent donations by Powder and other local sponsors and donors are helping to ensure that the CFOV’s support of local nonprofit organizations can continue.

Since January, the CFOV Board worked diligently to draft guidelines and accept grant requests from local nonprofit organizations. The CFOV received over $170,000 in requests! While thrilled to fund the incredible projects outlined below, the grant requests made far exceeded the Community Foundation’s ability to fund all the very worthy project requests submitted. With community support, the CFOV hopes to make these grants an annual gift back to the nonprofits that keep our Valley thriving.

The 2026 grants support special projects that uplift our community, and the CFOV is honored to recognize the incredible nonprofits making a difference:

Valley Elementary

$10,023 to fund the Art Start program for the 2026-2027 school year for the 550 students served by Valley Elementary. These funds will buy the supplies needed for the monthly Art Start programs in each classroom. The monthly art program is staffed by volunteers, but in today’s tough budget times, has struggled to secure funding for the supplies needed. The CFOV is thrilled to be able to help our local educators and parent volunteers fill this gap.

Ogden Valley Land Trust

$8,500 to help place a conservation easement on a 10-acre property in Ogden Valley. The property is important for agriculture, wildlife, open views, and watershed. The Ogden Valley Land trust currently holds conservation easements on over 7,900 pristine acres within Ogden Valley and acts as a steward in perpetuity. Donations like this grant allow them to manage and maintain its easements to keep open space in the Valley.

Ogden Valley Recreation

$10,000 to Ogden Valley Recreation (OVR) for equipment to support local recreation across the valley. All the equipment supports local volunteer-run recreation programs. It includes equipment for flag football, little league baseball, soccer, volleyball, triathlons and much more. Recreation is an integral part of who we are as a community, and the CFOV is thankful to have Ogden Valley Recreation as a hub for residents to engage in these activities.

Ogden Nordic

$8,000 toward the purchase of a used 1-ton truck and two fuel transfer tanks. This grant is a great example of collaboration and leveraged funding. Ogden Nordic will share the truck with Eden Valley Trails – which makes sense given that Ogden Nordic’s needs are in the winter months and Eden Valley Trails needs are largely in the Spring, Summer and Fall. Ogden Nordic also secured a large donation that effectively matches the Grant amount being awarded by the CFOV.

Mountain Arts and Music

$4,181 for furnishings and displays for the new Mountain Arts and Music space in Eden. Just 2 years ago, Mountain Arts was able to establish a “home base” for their workshops, concerts and shared art space. Their success bred the need to a larger space and they found that space in Eden – in the complex next to the Eden Post Office. This grant will help them make the space usable for their programs.

Snowcrest Junior High

$3,000 for a hydration station. Remember trying to get a drink out of a fountain that only sprung a waterflow about an inch beyond the faucet? That was the problem faced by the PTO at Snowcrest. Kids – particularly those in our high mountain desert – need hydration. This grant will provide a hydration station suitable for use with refillable water bottles and encourage kids to the drink the water they need.

Eden Valley Trails

$10,000 to help purchase two culvert structures for a separated trail crossing at North Fork Park. These crossings are a defining safety feature of the project, allowing equestrian and bike traffic to safely pass one another without conflict — a unique and innovative design element that will set this trail apart within the regional trail network. The trail will run from the Mule’s Ear parking lot to the Pipeline/Cinch intersection, providing a bike-only, directional experience that reduces congestion, improves safety, and expands trail capacity at one of Ogden Valley’s most heavily used recreation areas. This grant represents part of the cost of this $125, 000 project.

Backcountry Horsemen

$6,354 for panels for an Equine Shelter in North Fork Park. Backcountry Horsemen worked tirelessly for the past several years to secure funding to build a shelter for horses at North Fork Park and once completed, they will have garnered over $250,000 for the project. CFOV is proud to support their efforts to help our Valley retain its rural history by continuing to make trails and parks accessible. They have partnered with trails organizations to provide education on how to safely share trails between equestrians, bikers and hikers.

The funds from the grant program are used to fund special, one-time projects, such as those mentioned above. It is important to note that the CFOV will continue the “match program” that has been in place for local nonprofits for nearly two decades. The CFOV raises money from local businesses, individuals and through fundraising events to “match” the dollars raised by 16 local nonprofit organizations, up to $5,000 per organization, on an annual basis. These match funds are vital to the ongoing operations of the nonprofit organizations that enrich the lives of our residents and visitors. The Board of the CFOV wishes to stress the importance of these matching funds in ensuring the ongoing viability of the nonprofits in the Ogden Valley. The Board offers sincere thanks to the match donors and sponsors – without them, the ongoing operations of many of the local nonprofits listed above would surely suffer.
